Country duo The Shires have broken records with their pitch-perfect vocals and impressive songwriting. The group made of Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes were first seen on The X Factor as solo acts, mentored by Nicole Sherzinger. The reality show didn’t work out for The Shires, but they’ve never looked back. The Shires have since become the first UK country act to have a top ten album in the UK Albums Chart and to receive an award from the American Country Music Association. The Shires’ second album, My Universe, was also the fastest-selling UK country album ever. The Shires hail from Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, but signed a record deal with a huge Nashville label, UMG. The female half of The Shires, Crissie Rhodes began singing at weddings, inspired by the likes of Faith Hill and Martina McBride and singing Dolly Parton covers. Her male counterpart, Ben Earle had previously supported KT Tunstall on tour. He claims Kacey Musgraves is his muse, also citing Lady Antebellum as his insight to country music. Together, The Shires have worked with songwriters and companies that have worked with huge stars like Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion and Keith Urban. The Shires shot to fame with the release of their 2015 debut album Brave. Their second, My Universe, was even more successful, charting at number three on the UK Albums Charts. In 2018, The Shires’ third album, Accidentally on Purpose, was released accompanied with a UK tour. They have now had several headline shows and played at the likes of C2C: Country to Country and Edinburgh Summer Sessions.
