Now housed within the larger Worcester Arena, the basketball team came into fruition at the turn of the century. The Worcester Wolves started of sprightly, heading up into NBL Division at the beginning of their second ever season. In 2006, the team entered into the British Basketball League, winning the tournament in 2013/14.
Thanks to the Wolves’ rapid success over the years and various scholarships in place at the University College Worcester, the club quickly acquired more funding and more talent, such as Solomon Sheard, Sergio Rodriguez and James Noel. Audiences were also treated to better entertainment, with light shows and cheerleaders to bring excitement and atmosphere.
Today, the club ensures it pays its due to the surrounding community. From school visits to summer camps, Worcester Wolves remain humble at their roots, despite their overwhelming and quick success across national leagues. Furthermore, the coach and managers of the team take the time to get to know their players, taking into account their strengths and weaknesses and their interests in furthering their education.
