T-Bozz, Left Eye and Chilli formed as TLC, an American R&B and hip-hop group in 1991, quickly becoming a successful girl group in the 90s and early 2000s alongside the likes of Spice Girls, having nine songs reach the top ten of Billboard’s Hot 100. Their hit song ‘Waterfalls’ received great critical acclaim from music critics everywhere, winning not one, not two, but four MTV Video Music Awards in 1995.
Having broken through into the market, TLC paved way for all-black female R&B artists the world over, greatly influencing the superstars we know today, such as singer Beyoncé. In 2017, the now duo released their fifth and final studio album, the self-titled ‘TLC’ funded through their Kickstarter campaign thanks to celebrity fans such as Katy Perry, Soulja Boy and Justin Timberlake donating sizeable amounts. Now, TLC are returning to the stage, although visiting the UK for the first time ever, to celebrate the music of the 90s.
