Tina Turner has had one of the most emotive and inspirational life stories. She was born Anna Mae Bullock in Tennessee, but grew into Tina – the Queen of Rock’n’Roll. Her career traverses decades, taking off in the 1960’s and lasting over half a century. She is the 200 million record-selling artist with the signature dance moves. Her vocals and ferocious energy have made her one of the industry’s living legends. But there’s more to Tina than fame…
The musical is based on the singer’s autobiography ‘I, Tina’. It documents her life from when her parents abandoned her, through her turbulent relationship with singer Ike Turner, to overcoming the obstacles she faced as a Black woman. The 2 hour 24 minute show explores her highs and lows, success’ and comebacks, witnessing one of the most remarkable biographies played out.
Of course, with Tina’s portfolio of chart-topping hits, the soundtrack to the musical is equally majestic. Expect to hear songs like ‘A Fool in Love’, ‘River Deep Mountain High’, ‘Disco Inferno’, ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It?’ and ‘The Best’. The show has been described as ‘roof-raising’ and a ‘full-blooded rock show’ so expect to dance your socks off.
