See The Prince of Egypt at the Dominion Theatre
This brand new musical based on the 1998 DreamWorks animation first debuted in California in 2017. It has since had international runs in Denmark, and now in London at the Dominion Theatre in 2020. Brought together by DreamWorks theatricals Michael McCabe and Neil Laidlaw as well as a book by Philip La Zebnik (Pocahontas, Mulan), The Prince of Egypt musical is one of the most dazzling shows to see in 2020.
The story tells the epic journey of Moses, raised as a brother to Ramesses, heir to the Egyptian throne. As they grow older, and Ramesses takes his place as Pharaoh, tension runs high as they clash over how to rule. The biblical tale follows Moses’ quest to free the slaves of Egypt, at the cost of his relationship with his brother.
The Prince of Egypt musical features a stunning soundtrack, including the Academy Award-winning ‘When you believe’ from the film. The song was a duet by two of the most recognisable singers of all time, Mariah Carey and the late Whitney Houston. The musical also has 10 new tracks written by Stephen Schwartz that add to its powerful score.
The West End creative team includes stunning costume design by Tony Award-winner Ann Hould-Ward (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast), illusion design by Chris Fisher (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), orchestrations by Olivier Award-winner August Eriksmoen (Come From Away) and musical direction by Dave Rose (Wicked).
