Tennessee Williams’ 1948 story is now a powerful play, attracting many TV stars back to the stage. Clive Owen, Anna Gunn, Lia Williams and Julian Glover are all set to perform in the latest revival. Don’t miss your chance to see the award-winning actors with tickets to see The Night of the Iguana now.
Set in 1940’s Mexico a mismatched group of travellers unite at the Costa Verde Hotel amid a tropical storm. A minister-turned-tour-guide, a widowed hotelier, an old poet and his granddaughter, an artist and family of Nazi’s collide. Unable to leave the hotel, conversations arise resulting in a battle between personalities. Relating themes of freedom, captivity, faith, art, the body and the soul, tension mounts as the storm grows more intense.
This production features a hugely popular cast. In particular, Clive Owen’s return to the West End stage after 18 years means tickets to The Night of the Iguana will fly. Owen is one of the several stars to be part of the show, where iconic Hollywood star, the twice Oscar-winning Bette Davis also performed.
The play won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award back in 1962. It was transformed into an Oscar-winning film in 1964 starring Richard Burton and Ava Gardner. The playwright is also the winner of two Pulitzer Prizes, a Tony Award and plenty of other accolades. Her portfolio of outstanding work includes ‘The Glass Menagerie’, ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ and ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’. Complete with a star cast, it’s more than likely Williams’ latest play will be just as spectacular.
