See Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre

The multi-award winning West End production of Hamilton is now entering its third sell-out year at London's Victoria Palace Theatre.

Hamilton is the story of America's Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and helped shape the very foundations of the America we know today. The score blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway - the story of America then, as told by America now.

Full Description

Winner of a record 11 Tony Awards, a Grammy, a Pulitzer Prize and seven Olivier Awards, the rapped through musical is a global phenomenon. It has a book and score by Lin-Manuel Miranda, flawlessly telling the tale of one of America’s Founding Fathers. Hamilton continues to sell out tickets and receive strong critical acclaim, hailed as a modern musical masterpiece.

The musical is based on historian Ron Chernow’s hefty biography of Alexander Hamilton. It’s the story of an orphan and immigrant, born on the Caribbean island of Nevis. A penniless Hamilton worked his way up to become George Washington’s right-hand man, influencing the America we know today. He’s the War Hero, the American Dream and the political mastermind. Hamilton’s life story is one bursting with aspiration and significant events.

Lin-Manuel Miranda read Chernow’s biography while holidaying in Mexico. Immediately, he felt inspired to transform the book into a musical. However, the award-winning creator took seven years to develop the show, but the result is magical.

The score fuses elements of hip-hop, rap, r’n’b, operetta and blues together, creating an innovative soundtrack atypical of theatre musicals. Songs like ‘You’ll Be Back’, ‘Non-Stop’ and ‘Guns and Ships’ are fan favourites, many of which feature on the cast album streamed by millions. With such originality, Miranda brings the story of America’s Founding Father into the present.

Hamilton has been incredibly popular in the US, selling out almost as soon as tickets went on sale. Its advance box office sales have broken records and overall, the musical has received 16 Tony Award nominations. The hype of Hamilton doesn’t seem to be dying down, remaining one of the most in demand shows of Broadway and the West End, earning it a place among the theatre greats like Lion King and Wicked.

Don’t miss your chance to see theatre history in the making and get your coveted tickets to Hamilton today.

Venue Details

The Victoria Palace Theatre is one of the West End’s newly refurbished theatres. It currently stages Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Oliver and Tony Award-winning musical Hamilton. The Victoria Palace Theatre is one of Frank Matcham’s designs, opening in 1911 to become a staple in London’s West End theatre programme.

Situated on Victoria Street and opposite Victoria Station, The Victoria Palace Theatre is nestled in bustling City of Westminster borough. It has a stunning facade and elaborate foyer, and an auditorium boasting three levels; Stalls, Dress Circle and Grand Circle. It has been lovingly refurbished in recent years under the ownership of Delfont Mackintosh, who also own the Prince Edward Theatre, the Novello Theatre and several others. The Grade II listed Victoria Palace Theatre now offers more comfort and space for theatre patrons, while preserving its heritage.

The Victoria Palace’s domed auditorium seats 1,550 people. A sliding roof helps ventilate the auditorium during the intervals, which was a novelty feature in the days of heavy smoking during performances.

Now open for over a century, the Victoria Palace Theatre has welcomed huge shows. Elizabeth Taylor made her London stage debut in 1982 with The Little Foxes, while Billy Elliot the Musical opened at the Victoria Palace Theatre and immediately sold out tickets.

In hosting Hamilton, the Victoria Palace Theatre continues to show its prestige in the world of theatre. Don’t miss out on upcoming shows and ticket alerts by following the Victoria Palace Theatre here on TickX.
