The Hairy Bikers, otherwise known as David Myers and Simon ‘Si’ King, are TV presenters, cookbook authors and national treasures. The duo have been creating dishes together for over two decades, which translated to a wildly successful recipe book and bestseller ‘How to Love Food and Lose Weight’. They also hosted their own show that integrates travel and cookery, winning audiences over with their charismatic and dynamic performances.
Myers and King hail from Lancashire and Durham, respectively. They share a background in TV production in various roles behind the scenes, meeting for the first time on the set of ‘The Gambling Man’. The pair became fast friends, and their alternative shared passion for food and cookery lead to the Hairy Bikers series in Portugal. The show proved popular and lead to international travel to explore cuisines around the world as well as around the UK.
Myers and King are now responsible for numerous spin offs of the Hairy Bikers series. This includes Hairy Bikers’ Best of British, The Hairy Bikers Ride Again, The Hairy Bikers’ Northern Exposure and many others. They performed live shows in theatres across the UK in 2010, which combined cooking, conversation and entertainment, drawing on their love for food and travel as well as their career path to date. The Hairy Bikers have written 15 books, comprising of memoirs, diet books and recipes. In 2012, their hard work in literacy paid off when they won the National Book Award for ‘Food and Drink Book of the Year’.
