Southampton native Craig David is an icon of the UK garage scene, known for his high-energy live performances and crowd singalongs.
The singer-songwriter from Southampton was introduced to music from a very young age as his dad played bass in a reggae band called Ebony Rockers. As a teen David went with his dad to local dance clubs where DJs would invite him to take the microphone.
David burst into the public consciousness in 1999 when he featured on Artful Dodger’s single ‘Re-Rewind (The Crowd Say Bo Selecta)' – the song he is still most famous for. Soon after he released his 2000 debut album Born to Do which topped the UK Albums Chart and went multi-platinum in several countries. The album, which featured a different version of 'Re-Rewind...' called simply 'Rewind', spawned four UK Top 10 singles, including the No. 1 smash hits ‘Fill Me In’ and ‘7 Days’.
Across his two decade career to date David has released 20 UK Top 20 singles with his other hits including ‘Walking Away’, ‘What’s Your Flava’ and ‘Rise And Fall’. All seven of David’s studio albums have reached the UK Top 20, and in total he has sold over 15 million records across the world. David’s latest album The Time Is Now came out in January 2018 and reached No. 2 in the UK Albums Chart. Its second single ‘I Know You’, a collaboration with Bastille, reached No. 5 in the Singles Chart.
