We are kicking off this week with another One to Watch, and this one is definitely a favourite.
Late Night Legacy are the hottest rock band Yorkshire has produced in a long time, with a vibe very reminiscent of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Comprised of Ryan Kitto on vocals, Rob Orange on guitar, Kyle Metcalf on bass and Josh Stayman on the drums, their catchy riffs and electricfying energy on stage are impossible to resist, just one look at their live stages and you can feel that energy being fed into the audience and back again.
Together, the foursome create an extremely dynamic and powerful sound that captures those who listen. From heavy and strong drums to heady bass and a simply intoxicating guitar, frontman Kitto’s voice acts as the conductor, echoing the vocal power of rock music legends like Anthony Kiedis, Jonathan Davis and the late Chris Cornell.
2018 has a lot on the horizon for Late Night Legacy, with more music releases forecast to follow up their 2017 single ‘Beat Up’ as well as several festival appearances including their recently announce slot at Kendal Calling! There are even hints of a tour in the pipeline, so make sure to keep an eye out because that won’t be one to miss.
We leapt at the chance to have a quick chat with Late Night Legacy and discuss where they’ve come from and where they’re going, read what they had to say below.
Who do you look up to as inspirations & influences?
“Musically, we all have different influences, ranging from Korn to Steve Wonder and everything in between! Kyle (bass) is the funk master, Rob (Guitar) is rooted in Blues, Ryan (vocals) and I came from metal, but we have all since adopted many different influences and styles over the years, Jimi Hendrix, RHCP, Incubus, The Hunna just to name a few, the list is long. When we start writing, lots of different vibes are flying round the room, its always very exciting!”
So far, what has been your biggest achievement, and what is your biggest aspiration?
“Playing in front of 8k people last summer, such a rush! Biggest aspiration is to become a house hold name band, travel the world playing shows, signed to a big label, the whole job lot! One of my personal milestones to reach is to be invited to perform in the Radio 1 Live Lounge!”
Where did the name “Late Night Legacy” come from?
“”Late Night Legacy” is essentially what we and many other musicians are trying to do… which is to build a “legacy” late at night. 11pm headline slots and the 4-5 hour drive back to Leeds takes it out of you but we wouldn’t have it any other way!”
How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you yet?
“I’d say, Uplifting Alternative Rock, catchy hooks, fast raps & slap bass which will put a smile on any music lovers face!…. Maybe a little biased but still.”
From your music videos, it clear you all have a great sense of humour, do you see that as an important quality for performers?
“Thank you! I’d say yes, definitely! When we perform, we forget we are there sometimes! What you see on stage is four brothers, living their dreams and having fun with it!”
Your shows are full of energy & excitement, how do you get ready and motivated to go out on stage?
“We each have our individual set rituals, vocal stretches, loosen up with our instruments back stage, body stretches etc. Then, collectively, jump around, bounce off each others energy to pump each other up! By the time we hit the stage, we are absolutely buzzing and ready to smash the show!”
What have you got planned for 2018?
“A lot! We have just played a sold out headline show at 360 Club in our home town of Leeds. We have THREE complete new releases with music videos to come out in the next few months, a UK tour and some pretty huge festival dates to announce but I’m afraid I’m not allow to disclose any further information yet, sorry!”
